Acknowledgement of Country
I acknowledge the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live, write and work. I recognise their continued connection to the biik (land) and baany (waters) of this place, including nairm and birrarung, and that they never ceded sovereignty.
I similarly acknowledge the Ngunnawal people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which I was born, as well as the Awabakal people and the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I have previously lived.
I pay my respect to Elders past, present, and emerging. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are this nation’s first storytellers. I am grateful for their rich contributions and for their continuing demonstration of the importance of story in creating and protecting the world in which we live.
Always was, always will be.
